Katrina Evans
Psy.D.
Personal growth can take many different paths.
My primary goal is to support you as you work on improving your well-being and on living a life that is personally meaningful to you.
Personal experiences during my teenage years led me to become interested in psychological testing. As I transitioned to college and I encountered new friends with mental health differences, I chose to pursue a professional career in the field of psychology. During my 20s, my interactions with others broadened my perspective on well-being and the importance of having a holistic understanding of one's individual strengths and areas of needed support. I believe that utilizing one's individual differences can lead to positive contributions to one's own life, family, and community.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, hiking, creative writing, and reading.
I assist clients who are experiencing a range of presenting concerns. Common concerns include: autism, intellectual and learning differences, anxiety and depression, trauma-related presentations (e.g., posttraumatic stress disorder or PTSD), life transitions (e.g., high school to college), obsessions and compulsions, and executive functioning differences.
For psychological assessments, an ideal client or their guardian(s) has two or three questions or curiosities about themself or their loved one:
Does my child have autism?
Why am I having a difficult time succeeding at school/work?
What can I understand better about my personality to have healthier relationships?
AREAS OF FOCUS
WHO I WORK WITH: Adults, Children 5+, Teens
While I work with a wide range of people and presenting problems, some of my most common topics of focus include:
Psychological assessment
Diagnostic Clarification
Child and Adolescent Clients
Autism
Specific Learning Disorders
Anxiety-related Disorders
Depressive-related Disorders
Trauma-related Disorders
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
APPROACH
Using a strength-based approach, I work collaboratively to create individualized assessment plans. I value personal autonomy, openness to learning, and mutual respect when working with individuals and their loved ones. I believe that psychological assessments can be a therapeutic experience as one works toward better understanding their individual differences and the direction they want to move forward with in life.
Professional Background
After completing my undergraduate education, I moved to Chicago to begin my graduate education. During my training, I provided psychological assessment and therapy services in a variety of settings (e.g., private practice, psychiatric hospital, schools). During my pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral residency in Casper, Wyoming, I continued to develop expertise in psychological testing and assessment with children, adolescents, and adults. I moved back home to Montana in 2018 to provide psychological services to individuals across the lifespan. In 2024, I moved to Oregon to provide psychological assessment services at Insight Northwest Counseling.
Education Credentials
I am a licensed Psychologist and I attended The University of Montana, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Sociology with a Criminology Emphasis. I then pursued my graduate education at Adler University in Chicago, Illinois, where I earned a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology.
