  • Yes, you can use your “out-of-network” benefits and get reimbursed by your insurance company. Insurance companies typically reimburse 50% - 75% of the cost of each session. Click here to learn more about out-of-network billing.

  • No, we do not accept Oregon Health Plan and cannot bill Oregon Health Plan out-of-network.

  • We want to provide the best care possible to the clients that we serve. As medical providers, health insurance corporations make it increasingly difficult for us to simply provide the care that you deserve. We want each client that receives care at Insight Northwest Counseling to be confidential, anonymous, and simplified, which cannot occur when billing insurance directly.

When a client seeks services from a mental health provider who is billing insurance, the provider must provide a diagnosis during the first session and report all information to the insurance corporation. This process is timely and fully controlled by the insurance company. Unfortunately, insurance companies dictate the amount of time we can spend with a patient and they can choose to not pay us or delay payment for sessions. At Insight Northwest Counseling we value focusing all of our efforts on giving you the best care possible, not focusing on insurance regulations and the hoops they require medical providers to jump through.

Insurance companies typically reimburse 50% - 75% of the cost of each session. If you have private insurance with an “out-of-network” benefit and would like to use your health insurance to seek services with us, you may be able to. Please click here or scroll down to learn more.

At Insight Northwest Counseling we provide an inclusive and integrative model of care that is not seen in many mental health care settings in the Pacific Northwest. We not only provide counseling, we offer psychiatric medication management and psychological testing. This allows each of our providers to collaborate when working with each patient (with the client’s permission) in a unique and efficient way across disciplines. The field of mental health is a Venn Diagram of many intersecting disciplines providing similar care in a different approach or through a different lens. By having psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, psychologists all on one team, we are able to offer care that touches all areas of the mental health discipline and can massively reduce any blind spots a single provider may have.

We are very excited about our approach and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions about our services.

  • Yes, depending on the issue that the patient would like to focus on they can.

  • Out-of-network billing is a term insurance companies use to categorize medical providers who are not in-network or who have not signed a contract with them. All of our providers are “out-of-network providers”. Insurance companies typically reimburse 50% - 75% of the cost of each session.

This process is simple. Once you have confirmed from your insurance company that you will be reimbursed for services with a specific provider at our practice, at the end of the month (or each session, whichever you prefer) we will send you a statement of services that you have received, also called a “superbill”. This is a PDF document that you can forward to your insurance company. From there you will receive a reimbursement from your insurance company.

We are happy to walk you through this over the phone, for more information please give us a call at 541-357-9433.

Our psychiatric providers work in tandem with the therapists and psychologists on our staff to provide inclusive and well-rounded care.

  • Psychologists are mental health professionals with a doctoral degree in psychology that are trained to provide psychotherapy (counseling or therapy) and/or psychological testing. In the state of Oregon and Washington psychologists do not prescribe medication.

To learn more about neuropsychological testing, click here.

  • A psychiatric evaluation is the process of identifying behavioral symptoms that a person is experiencing that fit with a mental health diagnosis within the Diagnostic Statistics Manual (DSM-5). This then allows the psychiatric prescriber to identify a medication that will best treat the patient’s presenting mental health disorder.

A psychological evaluation is an in-person scientific and evidence-based test(s) that allows a person to learn in-depth about their level of functioning and processing. The psychological evaluation process includes a multi-page written report that will provide the patient with a better understanding of their functioning and emotional processing. • The terms psychological testing and neuropsychological testing are often used interchangeably, but each test involves a different set of assessment methods and are used to evaluate for different conditions. Both types of testing involve a series of different assessments that provide your psychologist the information they need to determine any mental or psychological conditions you may be experiencing.

Psychological testing is used to diagnose a wide array of conditions including mental health conditions, social and behavioral disorders and learning disabilities. The testing is comprised of assessments that focus primarily on a person’s behavior, current mental state, medical and mental health history and other factors that indicate an underlying condition or diagnosis. The goal of psychological testing is to identify any mental health disorders or other conditions that would inhibit someone from thriving in their daily life.

While the process of neuropsychological testing is very similar to that of psychological testing, it targets specific areas that indicate an individual’s cognitive function in order to diagnose conditions such as intellectual disabilities, memory disorders (Alzheimer’s) and any other neurological condition. Neuropsychological testing is often performed to evaluate someone after a traumatic brain injury or other medical event or procedure, to measure the impact of that event on their cognitive functioning. It is commonly recommended by physicians or specialists to patients in need of a more comprehensive assessment of their mental and cognitive capacity.
