Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I believe in creating a safe and healing environment for you to feel comfortable navigating life’s ups and downs with professional support. We’re all capable, strength-filled individuals with the capacity to achieve positive change.

We all face challenges and stressors in our lives; it’s part of being human! However, you don’t need to go through them alone. I’d be honored to help you along your personal journey of discovery and self-betterment. Let’s work together to achieve the life you deserve.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process. You’re the expert on your life! I’m here to follow your lead and help build upon the inherent strengths and capabilities you already possess while providing guidance and insight along the way. Therapy truly is magical, it’s transformative, and I hope to empower you through warm and compassionate connection to unearth your full potential.

I always knew helping people was my passion. Education and formal training may have gotten me to where I am today, but it was my passion and conviction – that everyone deserves someone in their corner – that led me to the field of therapy. I’ve seen far too many loved ones and strangers alike struggle emotionally, inhibited by unjust stigma and antiquated norms of propriety that kept them from seeking help. I hope to change this paradigm. My midwestern upbringing taught me much: the importance of valued living, of goal achievement, and the moral imperative to be a good person. Yet, it failed to recognize that – sometimes – doing it alone just won’t cut it. My worldview of peoples’ capacity to shape their life trajectory shifted dramatically over the years. I learned through observation and lived experience that seeking outside help is not a personal failing, it’s a commendable strength. One that I seek to spread through my therapy practice. We exist as a species who’s dually-part of both a global society and local community that’s in a state of constant interconnection. What greater privilege exists than to recognize that fact, and to extend a helping hand to those in need? I aim to be your personal advocate, your sounding board, and your reminder that even the best of us needs a trusted other to help weather the storm, together. I know my younger self would have benefited from therapy. I hope to be the change catalyst – for you – that my younger self needed. Don’t neglect your mental wellbeing out of personal pride, or whatever societal message might be holding you back. Take charge of your holistic health today, not tomorrow.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending quality time with my partner. Whether it’s watching movies/TV shows, attending concerts, or laughing together over the most absurdist of things, we always bring light to each other’s life. I love the unrequited calm that nature brings me and try to foster that wellness domain as much as possible. Hiking, camping, and time spent afloat or in the water is my happy place. In a kayak, face-planting after a wicked wakeboard session, or just meditatively being in the presence of nature’s bountiful oceans, rivers, and lakes grounds me in a way like no other. And I love me some good stand-up comedy. Laughter truly is the best medicine!

Counseling Technique

My therapeutic approach is strength-based, family system, and solution-focused. My work is trauma-informed and sensitive to the various, diversely held identities each of us possesses. I use evidence-based practices to guide my work with clients. I primarily operate from a solution-focused lens but incorporate narrative and existential therapy principles – in addition to motivational interviewing techniques – that guide my therapeutic practice.

Professional Background

I’ve spent the majority of my professional career working at a higher-care treatment center for clients who struggle with eating disorders and associated, comorbid conditions. Substance use, trauma and stressor-related, and mood/thought disorders are but a few of the areas that I have considerable clinical experience in effectively treating. I’m passionate about working with clients – through a harm-reduction approach – to decrease their substance use and other addictive behaviors. I’m also passionate and skilled in treating varied couples and family issues. Relational therapy is something I aim to incorporate in almost all of my therapeutic work as I view problems systemically; rarely, does someone – or their presenting concern(s) – exist in isolation.
