Mary-Catherine (M-C) Nimphius
MS, LPC
I believe in a non-judgmental, collaborative approach to therapy. I try to prioritize inclusive, collaborative, and empowering communication in order to provide a validating space to work on life's challenges together. My goal in therapy is to foster and strengthen resilience so individuals can be who they are in their heart of hearts.
I have always been drawn to humans and the incredible ways people overcome challenges, traumas, and hardships. Throughout my childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood, I faced considerable adversity, loss, and hardship; however, I was fortunate to receive tremendous support, kindness, and grace from others. We are all incredibly resilient, even when we do not always believe it for ourselves. My experience collaborating with survivors of trauma, complex challenges, and multifaceted mental health struggles has been life changing. I have learned that each of us has the potential to grow, become empowered, and find peace through the therapeutic process. Through compassionate guidance and self-reflection, therapy helps develop strengths and provides support to move toward greater fulfillment.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time in nature and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I also love playing table top games which my partner and I use them to determine who does undesirable household chores. I find so much peace and creativity in cooking, baking, sewing and other fiber arts. More often than not you will find me with a good book and spending time with my partner and dogs. Full disclosure, I probably watch to many movies and shows!
I assist clients who are experiencing a range of presenting concerns including: new life challenges and transitions, even the stress of daily life, can cause significant stress, anxiety, and depression that puts us out of balance. Whether adjusting to a new job, school, relationship, life event, or location, it can be difficult to find your way. I collaborate with folks to both recover, and make meaning from past hardships and traumatic invalidation.

I have over ten years of DBT and behavioral therapy experience. I have served in both intensive outpatient (IOP) and private practice settings, providing comprehensive DBT to adults, adolescents and their families, couples, individuals struggling with disordered eating, folks with complex PTSD, and individuals that have struggled with significant OCD and anxiety. I have had the ability to practice comprehensive DBT in both Portland, Oregon and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
