Vivian Sobol

MSW, CSWA

I strive to create a safe and collaborative environment. I believe that people can make positive changes through therapy drawing off of their individual strengths and experiences.

I approach therapy using a systems lens and a strengths-based perspective to work collaboratively with clients. My family's experience with the healthcare system influenced me to learn more about mental health and disability, the social welfare systems available to people with disabilities, and to eventually pursue a degree in psychology.

After completing my undergraduate degree, I began working with youth and young adults at a local mental health agency. I worked with clients from vulnerable populations using a strengths-based approach to help them build life skills and find strategies that helped them interact with their internal and external worlds. It was while doing this work that I realized I wanted to become a therapist to further help people navigate social systems and promote individual well-being. I continued to educate myself taking courses on Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Informed Care at Portland State University, prior to enrolling in Boise State University's Master of Social Work program. I am eager to work with people who are looking to change their lives for the better.

Additionally, I have experience in the therapy room as both a clinician and a client. Having been on both sides, I have learned the importance of a compassionate approach, empathy for others, and to not be afraid of challenging the status quo.

Appreciating art and engaging in the process of making art are some of my main hobbies. I hold a minor in Art History from the University of Oregon Art, and enjoy going to museums in my free time. I like to draw, paint, and make collages. I also enjoy spending time with my loved ones (including two mischievous kittens), hiking, playing basketball, listening to music, and wandering around bookstores.

I assist clients who are experiencing a range of presenting concerns including: ADHD, anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+, life transitions, peer relationships, psychosis, and trauma
